Last night I was put in the "Hot Seat" during last night Bootstrap Film monthly meeting. I presented Art Erotica and described how I was using bootstrap concepts to promote the film. The filmmakers then got to ask their questions; thus, the "hot seat". They had great suggestions.
They suggested to cut the film down; taking at least 15 min out. Art Erotica is an awkward length of 30+ mins. Shorts are typically 15 to 10 min. Why? Because a Film Festival fill slots in a show case of shorts. If your film is too big or dwarfs the others, they will not even look at it. Beyond the Film Festival, people have short attention spans. Holding their attention for more than 10 mins is a challenge. Technology can also place limits. Storage, bandwidth, compression,...all impact the length of an online distributed film. As technology changes so will the restraints of online films.
